
F.I.U. Master of Fine Arts alumna Patricia Engel’s first book, Vida, a collection of linked stories, has just been published by Grove Press Black Cat. Michiko Kakutani’s New York Times review can be read here
Engel’s stories have been published in the Atlantic, StoryQuarterly, Harpur Palate, and Quarterly West, and she has received numerous awards including the Boston Review Fiction Prize and a Florida Artist Fellowship in Literature. Vida, which received a starred review in Publishers Weekly, is a Barnes & Nobles Discover Great New Writers Selection. Engel received her M.F.A. from F.I.U. in 2007.
Engel will be part of the Creative Writing program’s alumni reading on Sunday, Sept. 19 at Books and Books, Coral Gables, and will also have a separate Books and Books reading on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Books and Books, Coral Gables.
