Dr. Pettit was recently honored with two awards for his contributions to the field:
First, the Edwin S. Shneidman Award, American Association of Suicidology (AAS). The annual award is given to individuals under the age of 40 who have made outstanding contributions in research in suicidology. It is named for Edwin S. Shneidman, a pioneer in research on suicide and founder of the AAS.
Second, his recognition on the Top 25 Psychology Professors in Florida, Onlineschools.com. From their vice president: “The goal of the Top Professors list is to highlight post-secondary educators in the field of psychology who have been honored recently for excellence in the classroom, on campus, in the community, and/or for contributions to the field.”
