Congratulations to Natalie Boden-Kawas and Thomas Jelke for receiving the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Torch Award.
Thomas Jelke’s company, T. Jelke Solutions, is a consulting firm that provides strategic planning, independent research, training, and assessment to universities, student organizations, non-profits, and fraternity/sorority communities and headquarters. In addition to consulting over 250 campuses at a variety of universities, being recognized as Advisor or Professional of the Year by three different higher education and associations, as well as serving as the Chairman of the Association of Fraternity Advisors Foundation, his generosity to the Department allowed for the establishment of the Annual Jelke Family Scholarship. The Scholarship, established in 2013, is awarded annually to an FIU English senior with a GPA of 3.0 (or higher) with a strong preference to a student who is a member of a greek organization.
Natalie Boden has grown Boden PR, a Miami-based boutique, Hispanic public relations and social media agency, into one of Miami’s premier agencies and one of the fastest growing U.S. Hispanic public relations and social media agencies in the country. Boden is a WBENC certified woman-owned company and a strong advocate of the advancement of women and girls. The firm is part of the Latina Advisory Board of Girls Inc., the Latina Advisory Board also donates a percentage of their yearly profits towards organizations that advance and protect the lives at risk girls. Boden-Kawas has an extremely high affinity for FIU and has initiated conversation’s with university leadership about Boden PR giving back through support of scholarships, pro-bono PR work and internship opportunities for FIU students.
