Qingxuan Zhou, graduate student from our Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry received an award for second place in Outstanding Oral Presentation on her talk entitled “Lysine acetylation on E. coli topoisomerase I” at the annual meeting of the Florida Branch of American Society for Microbiology on October 9 – 11, 2015 at Cocoa Beach, FL.
Qingxuan’s research is supervised by Dr. Yuk-ching Tse-Dinh and focuses on Lysine acetylation, a widely distributed post-translational modification, and how it has a global effect on altering protein function. She is interested in understanding how lysine acetylation regulates topoisomerase I in E. coli, which is an essential enzyme for genome maintenance in bacteria.
