With greenish skin and a love of tropical and subtropical climates, green sea turtles were the topic of discussion during the final Lunch & Learn lecture hosted Tuesday at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.

The annual lecture series began January and ended this month. This year’s series celebrated the educational and research partnership developed last year between the local reserve and Florida International University (FIU) in Miami by spotlighting research underway by some of the school’s scientists.

Biological sciences professor James Fourqurean spoke to a packed house Tuesday inside the reserve’s Environmental Learning Center about his research done on green sea turtles living in Bermuda, an island situated in the North Atlantic Ocean.
