After-School All-Stars South Florida hosted over 60 middle school students at Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, for a soccer jamboree on May 4. On a beautiful Saturday morning, teams came together in the spirit of competition from Coral Way K-8, M.A. Milam K-8, Bowman Ashe Doolin K-8, Rubin Dario Middle School and West Miami Middle School.
Players showcased skills learned throughout the year as a group and as individuals. In a “round robin” style tournament, teams competed for the top prize. The student athletes also took part in individual competitions, navigating multiple drills such as soccer training obstacle courses, kicking competitions and more.
The day ended with lunch and an awards ceremony where every participant received a medal and trophies were awarded to the best teams and individual players. Congratulations to the top 3 teams and all the participants!
